Waiting on Spring

The first daffodil of the season
brings a smile to my face
But also finds me wishing
that spring would pick up the pace

Yes, spring's the time we so long for
after winter's dormant state
Anticipation grows with each new day
I just hope it won't be late

Awaiting spring's arrival
the time just seems to creep
I'm waiting for perennials
that slept and crept.... to leap!

Bulbs that lie beneath the soil
are sending up some green
but blooms of blue and yellow, too
are waiting to be seen

Soon temps will rise and soil will warm
from shining rays of sun
this gardener will rejoice in spring
'cause the waiting will be done

  1. I haven't seen daffodils but blogs allowed me to, at least! And that tree frog is so cute, i haven't seen it in the tropics either.

  2. Cute little tree frog! Daffodils blooming here too and when I clean up the leaves in the beds I am finding lots of new growth. Very exciting!

  4. 60's & 70's this week...Oh it feels like Spring, but with the winter we have had, it could be back down to the 30's next week.

  5. I'm worried that spring will fly by and summer will be here a little too soon!

  6. I agree, Toni. I know it might be better for the plants to have more winter, but I'm tired of it--even if it was mild and short. Beautiful images!

  7. I was hoping for more winter but we've barely had any at all so it might as well be spring so I can garden! Love the frog picture! :o)

  8. My garden is greener than it's been in the past 2 years since it didn't have a single frost. The evergreens are green and a lot of the 'first' plants are budding. The middle of the pack is starting to wake up as well.
Spring is not very far away my friend.
