Today's Forecast

As I was driving down the road the other day, I saw this wonderful quote on the marquee sign of a church...

Today's Forecast:
God reigns and the Son shines

We got a different glimpse of that today.

The dark clouds rolled in

And the raindrops fell

Yet rays of sun broke through the clouds

And through the raindrops...

...the sun shone brightly.

Short But Sweet

I woke this morning to the sound of thunder
How far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962...
(Thank you, Bob Seger)

Then out in the yard there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear...

Rain!!!!!!

Hallelujah!!!
 (insert angels singing)

Do you see the heart in the clouds?

The rain was very short, but very sweet.

And with a few clouds finally in the sky, I was able to get some beautiful early morning sky shots to link up with...

Skywatch Friday - A Cool Summer Evening

Here are a few shots of a beautiful evening sky at my parents' farm in central Wisconsin when we were visiting last week.

During our visit the temperatures ranged from the 70s during the day and down into the 50s at night.    Sweet relief from the record-breaking temps we're having in Texas this summer.

I hope you've found a little relief from the heat, too.

Nature's Art Gallery

Art gallery?  Who needs it?  Look up at the swirling silver-lined clouds in the magnificent blue sky or at the silently blazing stars at midnight.  How could indoor art be any more masterfully created than God's museum of nature?

Skywatch Friday

O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory above the heavens.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him?

Oh LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 7:1, 3-4, 9

An Eye on the Sky

When there's not much color going on in our gardens this time of year, sometimes we just have to look up.

The first picture I took from my front yard,
and the next two were from my backyard.

Can a picture ever do a sunset justice?

I cannot look at a beautiful sky without thinking of Psalm 19:1

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

To see more amazing attempts at capturing the beauty above,

Keep your chin up, folks!
Spring is on its way, and who knows...
you might just see a beautiful sky when you look up :-)

Happy Skywatching!

A Rainbow and a Promise

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Psalm 19:1

I took this picture from my backyard a couple days ago,
and it reminded me of God's promise to Noah in Genesis 9.

And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:

I have set my rainbow in the clouds,
and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
I will remember my covenant between me and you
and all living creatures of every kind.

Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life."

Genesis 9:12-15
